Yoko Guruma

Yoko-guruma - Side Wheel

Yoko-guruma is rarely performed as a technique in it's own right, indeed, in Nage-no-kata it is performed as a renraku-waza, as a ura-nage is attempted uke resists and the yoko-guruma is executed. In Nage-waza-ura-no-kata the technique is used as a counter to (morote)-seoi-nage...

And a kaeshi-waza it is most useful - as an uke attacks with a forward throwing technique, the tori skips over the technique and throws the first leg through the legs of the uke, sitting down, and pulls down with both hands. As in the video above, but this is from a stationary position.

Due to it's inclusion in Nage-no-kata, hugging the partner as in ura-nage is also accepted.
