| Tomoe-nage - Circle Throw
Tomoe-nage is another very famous throw - often used in Hollywood films against a would-be-attacker for it's flambouyance, there has even been newspaper reports in Japan of a bear attacking a jodoki that was thrown of a cliff in defence! A technique that works best when the uke is pushing forward (perhaps to stay in the mat area for instance), the tori drops on to their own back, foot in to the stomach of the uke (Tomoe-nage is often translated as 'Stomach Throw') and pushes with the league and directing the uke over the top of their head. Tomoe-nage can also be called Ke-Age (Kick lift) and Ke-geashi (Kick reversal) |
