Soto-ashi-dori-ouchi-gari - Outer Leg Grab Major Inner Reaping
There are two main ways of attempting this technique: 1. Tori attempts an O-uchi-gari, but whilst the leg is trapped, uke can resist the technique. Tori then drops their hikite to uke's leg (behind the knee is ideal, but not essential for the technique to work), grabbing and lifting. This is shown in the first part of the above video. 2. In the second version, Tori has already caught hold of uke's leg - often from a Ko-uchi-gari attack (as demonstrated in the video) - and sweeps through uke's remaining leg for an O-uchi-gari. |
