O Soto Otoshi

O-soto-otoshi - Major Outer Drop

Very much like O-soto-gari, O-soto-otoshi is more of a block-and-trip than the afore-mentioned technique. As with O-soto-gari, step forward with your closest leg pushed in between the uke's legs and the hands forcing the uke to the floor.

I would imagine that this technique has been included into the newer syllabus to differentiate the poor technique usually employed by beginners for O-soto-gari.
