O-guruma - Major Wheel
O-guruma is one of my favourite techniques. Tori creates a bar in front of ukes legs and the hands throw uke over this leg. I prefer the entry into this as above, but it is often done with tori swinging the eventual supporting leg backwards, so that there is not the cross-over of the legs. I feel that the cross-over gives me much more speed in the throw, and looks more dynamic.
It is often said that an O-guruma and Ashi-guruma are the same, just with the leg in O-guruma above the knee, in the latter below. However, the circle in O-guruma is more vertical, in Ashi-guruma horizontal.
