Kata Ashi Tai Otoshi

Kata-ashi-tai-otoshi - Single Leg Body Drop

Kata-ashi-tai-otoshi is part of the kokusai-shiai-waza, and is simply what a single-leg tai-otoshi would be. Tai-otoshi is a te-waza after all, so the leg is not essential, although most contest versions of the technique use the leg as the main part of the throw. So, as an opponent steps over the leg of the tai-otoshi, tori continues the throw with the hands.

From a stationary position, speed is of the utmost importance - and does share some resemblance to uchi-mata, although the actual mechanics are totally different.
